dCal Public Beta
Hello everyone,
Some of you may have noticed that I have silently released the first public beta. This was a silent release because I do not want too much press about this particular beta just yet. This beta was more for testing the functionality and work flow of the site. The next release, beta 0.2 will be released by the end of the month, and possibly in the coming week.
This update will include sparkle updates, the app icon is now hidden and you can access the dCal menu via a status item in your menubar, keyboard shortcuts are dynamic and best of all a new calendar type (possibly two).
Here is a screenshot of the new Birthday calendar. The option "Show Birthday calendar" must be enabled via iCal's preferences, and a picture must accompany the birthday person's vCard in AddressBook.
My latest desktop
dCal is coming along quite nicely. I've been spending a lot of time on the website, so there hasn't been too much progress with dCal directly. However I now display the events for each day on the monthly calendar.
Here is an image of my current desktop.
dCal
After some googling I noticed that there are many programs out there called Desktop Calendar. I will now be referring my most active project to dCal.
New Calendar Skin
Alright, I've decided to create the default skin for Desktop Calendar. Here it is.
Desktop Calendar Screenshots
I am getting pretty excited about the release of Desktop Calendar, which has made me want to post some screens.
The iCal Skin. This is my best looking skin so far, and the only one that I've put any real effort into.
This screen is me dragging in a new calendar. The screen doesn't capture the cursor, but it's there. AS you can see i've taken the approach of Dashboard. I've tried to create a feel users are familiar with.
This is the default skin that the Calendar morphs into when you drag the Calendar onto the drop zone. The default skin will definitely change for the final release as this one in reality is pretty terrible. Though, the dog is adorable.
So, still a lot of work to be done, issues to resolve, stay tuned.
